~Nerina~
The ocean waters on the edge of District Four lapped up around Nerina's ankles while she walked down th length of the beach. This is where she came to relax and try to clear her mind. With her brother being so sick everything was hard. Trying to get through each day was a struggle. And her mother wasn't much help. The woman was so depressed that she slept away most of the day. Leaving everything up to Nerina. And being only fifteen, the stress of it all was enormous. But somehow she managed. Working long hours fishing, and working on boats, she was able to make ends meet.
Her mother didn't know, but Nerina was saving a little bit of her paycheck each week. So that some day, she could take her brother to District Six to be seen by one of the medical professionals there, seeing as no one in Four had any idea what was wrong with him. At one time he was the picture of health, but that had long since changed. Whatever it was, it was slowly killing him, she was sure of that much. But Nerina tried to cling to the hope that someway, somehow, they'd find a way to make him better. But just encase, she made every minute of everyday she had with him count. Because you really could never be sure whether or not it will be your last moment with that person. So much can happen so fast. She'd learned that much the hard way.
The beach went up hill and then dropped down into a small cove. A smile spread over Nerina's face. This had to be her favorite place in all of Four. It was so beautiful and hidden, it was the place she used to spend hours talking to her brother, and swimming. They came here almost everyday. The memories helped and hurt her. She could smile because it happened, but cry because that was over. Sighing Nerina sat herself down on a large rock overlooking ocean as far as the eye could see. The salty sea spray was a welcome feeling on this hot day. It provided comfort from both the heat, and her racing thoughts. It was times like this she couldn't imagine living anywhere other than District Four.

Samuil Dan Vladimirskii ((Lesshehere. x3 Time to break in Sammy-boy. *breaks out the whip* xDD Trying to figure out his accent is gonna drive me crazy. Dx ))
Whether it was early in the morning or late in the afternoon, he wasn't sure. All he had set out with from his little Hooverville-like hut was with two bottles of vodka -- or was it three? -- and nothing to do. Possibly the worst combination t hat Samuil could do to himself, and yet, he was enjoying it.
Stumbling through the sparse trees, he came to a fence -- or rather, he ran into the fence, causing him to bounce back a few staggered steps, looking up with his bloodshot eyes.
"A fence?"
He muttered, confused.
"A... a fence? Why is there a fence....."
Samuil's words were slurred with drunkenness as he grabbed onto the fence with one hand and shook it, a crooked smile on his face. Putting the end of the bottle in his mouth and clamping his teeth onto it, he began to climb the fence, but once he reached the top he let go, plummeting down to the ground and landing in a heap. A long, slurred string of curses ran from his mouth as he picked the vodka bottle back up and stood, taking another drink from it.
"Dat...... dat hurt...."
Despite that, he continued on further into the unknown District, muttering things to himself and cackling, stumbling quite often. It was then that he came upon some sort of cove, and the sight of such a large body of water thrilled him. He let out a exalting cry, throwing his hands up into the air and making a mad dash for the water and tearing across the sad, though he came to a very sudden halt just as he was about to enter the tide.
"Wait.... I cannot go in...."
He took another swig of the vodka, taking a staggered step back.

((ooc- Poor Nerina is so hopeless... XD ))
~Nerina~
Nerina was sitting on her rock in the cove, looking out at the vast sea, with the fishing and trade boats of District Four dotting the horizon. She could hear seagulls, the tide, even some fish splashing in the water, and someone hitting the fence. Wait a second... Someone hitting the fence?
She pulled her feet out of the water to look over where the fence was. That was when she saw a boy, a few years older than herself, climb the fence, and fall down to this side of it. He sure was clumsy, really tipsy actually. That's when she saw him stumbling and muttering crazy things... She'd never seen anything, or anyone like it.
He tossed him arms into the air and made a noise, before bolting across the sand towards the ocean. He probably should be swimming, he can barely walk. Much to her surprise, and relief, he stopped right before the water. Nerina released the breath she didn't know she was holding, while he garbled something about not being able to go in before, taking a gulp of stuff in the bottles he had. Whatever it was smelled funny to her, and she wasn't even that close to him. Though it was vaguely familiar... "Are you alright?' She called out to him. Half of her wanting to just walk away, but the more responsible side, told her to stay and see if she could help.

Samuil swung his arms a bit as his bloodshot eyes looked out at the sea, and as the waves hit the shore, he could've sworn they were talking to him.
"Are you alright?'
The boy froze, his eye twitching as he looked around.
"I am okay. I come here to.... to...."
Losing his train of thought, he raised one hand and rubbed the back of his head, trying to remember. He thought for quite a bit before looking back up, spotting the girl.
"Oh, hello! Would you like a drink?"
He offered, grinning as he held out the bottle.
((It's such a short post, but I'm being rushed. Dx ))

~Nerina~
Nerina watched carefully, this guy was so very strange. She'd never seen anyone like him before. Obviously something was wrong with him. Normal people don't look, or act the way he is. She wished her brother was here right now, he could explain to her what was going on, and help her with what to say, or do. He always seemed to know what was best.
She felt herself panic when he asked her if she wanted a drink. Would it be rude to say no? What was even in the bottle anyway? Ohh to many things to try and decide in such a short spans of time. So she started off with what was seemingly a good question to ask before accepting anything from anyone. "Umm what is it?"
Nervously Nerina slipped from her rock into the water before graceful strokes carried her back to the sand. She wrung the hair out of her hair and clothes the best she could before giving a small smile. Swimming was one of her favorite things to do. Sometimes she would swim along the coast for hours, just to get some peace of mind.

"What is it?"
Samuil asked, bewildered.
"What is it? It is the greatest drink ever invented. Vodka, it is."
He gave an awkward chuckle, taking a staggered step towards the girl and extending his hand with the bottle. He gave her a drunken grin, though as he looked down at the bottle in his hand, he took it back.
"Oh, wait...."
Samuil looked at the other bottle in his other hand, then back at the other one. His brows furrowed as the gears in his slow mind cranked and turned, though sparking at the rusty hinges. After a moment, he then offered the one in his left hand to her.
"You can have this one."
He said, his accent muffling his slurred words. After a few moments, he took a drink from the one in his right hand.
"It is very good."

~Nerina~
She'd never heard of Vodka. But he insisted it was very good and she should try some. Carefully Nerina took the bottle in his left had and brought it up to her lips. Tilting it slightly she let a little bit of the liquid pass her lips. Then there was a burning sensation in her throat. It certainly didn't taste very good, almost nauseating actually. No wonder this guy seemed to be so messed up. Not wanting to seem rude Nerina smiled and handed the bottle back to the boy. "It sure is strong. How do you manage to drink so much of it at once?"
Vodka... Even the word didn't sound like it was from around here. That must be why she'd never heard about it or tasted it before. Not that it was a lot to miss out on. The stuff was kind of disgusting. Her brother might know more about it. She knew better than to ask her mother anything. The woman was so depressed and lonely that she wasn't much help with anything anymore. Though she hated to bother her brother with stupid questions, he needed to rest. But her curiosity had been sparked.

Samuil watched her take a sip from the bottle, reacting with the taste. Being given the bottle back, the boy raised it to his lips and took a few good sips before looking back at the girl, her question slowly churning in his mind.
"I love it; vodka is good. That is why I drink so much of it."
He gave the same drunken grin as before, though he suddenly fell into a violent fit of coughing, turning away from the girl. Once he caught his breath, he looked around with his back towards her, obviously confused.
"Where did you go? I swear, I saw you here..."
Utterly baffled, Samuil raised a hand to the back of his head, rubbing his scalp as he muttered to himself in Russian, furrowing his brows as he tried to solve the sudden mystery. Turning towards the water, he glanced to the side at her, though he had to do a double take before he recognized her, hand dropping back down to his side. A crooked grin drew across his lips.
"Oh. Hullo."

~Nerina~
Nerina watched as the poor intoxicated boy spun around and then couldn't find her. Something was seriously wrong with him. Maybe she should try and take him back to the medical center in Four? But then again they couldn't do a damn thing for her brother so they probably couldn't help this guy either.
"I'd never heard of vodka before."
She took a piece of dried seaweed out of her pocket and began to munch on it quietly. It wasn't the best tasting thing in the world but it was healthy and easy to get. Sometime she'd put a bunch of different types in a blender and drink it. Where did Vodka even come from, the question entered her mind. Was it from outside of Panem? Most of the District trade between each other and Four being wealth had just about everything, and she'd still never seen the stuff.
"Were does vodka come from? I've lived in Four my whole life and have never seen it. Normally we just blend a bunch of seaweeds together for a strong drink."
Her brother had also given her the best recipe for a seaweed and fish stew that she made every Friday, except she had to water her brother's down so he could get it down his throat. He'd be needing his injections again tonight. The poor boy was a pin cushion. Four injections a day, fifteen pills. The doctors proscribed him medicine for just about every ailment under the sun. And nothing ever worked.
