Plots and Continuity
- Do not ever, ever, ever insult, swear at, or harass other members. I have an extremely low tolerance for anything of this sort. I’m not asking for you to all like each other, but keep your fighting to PMs. If any kind of harassment persists over PM, please contact an admin rather than take the skirmish onto the boards.
- On a similar note, respect the staff. Admin word is law, and mods are lawkeepers. The staff are not chosen because they’re my friends or because I like them more than other people, but because they’re trustworthy and have shown themselves to have the skills needed to be a staff on an RP. (If you have a problem with one of the staff, please PM them- or even another staff member, if that’s more comfortable for you- and resolve it like you would with any other member.)
- Watch your language, please. I understand that sometimes you don’t realize you’re being profane- I’m guilty of it myself, in fact- but try to keep an eye on it. Remember, this is a PG-13 site.
- Plagiarism will never be tolerated. Ever. Any theft of characters, writing, artwork, or anything else will result in a warning; a second offense will end in a ban. It doesn’t matter whether the material originated here or elsewhere, plagiarism is not okay and I will not bend on this rule for any reason.
- Avoid double-posting, or just spamming in general. You are not Napoleon and you do not need to be trying to conquer anything, let alone the boards.
- Please keep advertising to the appropriate boards. I do not appreciate non-advertising boards being cluttered up with eight million links.
- These rules go for the cbox. I like having a cbox and don't want to take it away, but I will if I have to.
Characters
- Characters should be posted in the main section of the Characters board; once accepted, the bio will be moved to the appropriate subboard. You cannot RP with a character until he or she has been accepted by a staff member.
- Feel free to have as many characters as you want; however, please keep up with all of them. Inactive characters will be moved to the inactive board or killed if you don’t pick them up again.
- For the love of whatever ties you to this planet, do not create cookie-cutters or Mary Sues. Your characters should not be perfect, and they should be interesting and original. Also keep in mind that people can be interesting without being totally off-the-wall; there are plenty of completely original characters out there that are also totally normal people.
- Only human characters are allowed. No mermaids, cat hybrids, or whatever else.
- Foreign characters (exchange students, ambassadors, immigrants, what have you) are allowed. However, don’t go overboard with that. Panemites are going to be a lot more common, since Panem’s borders have only been fully open for five years. Not to mention random people are being kidnapped and forced to kill each other. That might kind of put a damper on people wanting to come to Panem.
- Character bios require a code, which is made up of two words scattered throughout these rules. Find the underlined words and put them in order.
- You don't have to use the template, but I do ask that you check your bio against it to make sure that you have all the required information. Also remember that personality, history, and appearance must each have at least five full sentences- not necessarily long sentences, but still five complete ones.
- Characters may be members of (or just sympathetic toward) the new rebellion. However, they cannot be open about it if they live in the Districts, or they'll have gotten dragged off to prison ages ago. This is seriously secret stuff here.
Roleplaying
- This is a realatively literate RP site. We don’t expect 2000-word posts, but please avoid one-liners, and for Ripred’s sake do not use chat speak. Oh, and do us all a favor and run a spell-check on your posts if you’re prone to typos or misspellings.
- Feel free to post in whatever tense or POV you feel most comfortable with, but keep in mind that third-person past- or present-tense tends to be easiest on the people reading your post. (Please don’t use second person, though. Second person is a pain in the neck.) If you use first person, be sure to specify what character you're using by putting their name at the top of the post, or things get confusing.
- Do not god-mod- that is to say, don’t make it so that your character never gets hit in fights and is invincible and awesome and omg!invincible. Remember that bit a while ago about characters not being perfect? Yeah. This is more of the same.
- Powerplaying is also not allowed. This is when you take control of other people’s characters (for instance, ‘my character aimed to stab your character in the shoulder’ is fine, but ‘my character stabbed your character in the shoulder and blood came gushing out’ is not okay). The people you RP with made their characters so that they could RP them, not you. The only time things like this are acceptable are instances in which you discussed the post with the other person beforehand. For clarifications on what is PPing and what is not PPing, please contact a staff member or ask in the help board.
- Feel free to have your characters in multiple threads at a time.
Plots and Continuity
- The former government was overthrown five years ago. The first year was very difficult for the new government, but things began to stabilize pretty quickly during the second year.
- The year after that, however, the new Games started up. These Games are being numbered as though there was never a break- so we’ve recently seen the 101st, 102nd, and 103rd Games. The 104th will be the first RPed Games.
- The Games rules will be listed separately from here, when I actually get around to setting up the Games.
- Oh, you want to know what's up with that rebellion? Curious about when the war is going to happen? Hmm... I guess you're just going to have to wait, then.
