Rules and Information This should be the first stop for all new members! Here you can find the rules of WIWG, which everyone must read to even create a character. The plot can also be found here; that's also required reading, because it's pretty important to understand what you're writing about. Moderator: Wolf Tears |

The Capitol Even though the rest of Panem is rebuilding, the Capitol is still the center of the country. It houses the government and the headquarters of many major corporations, and is still the richest area and the easiest to live in. District One Of all the Districts, this one has probably changed the least overall since the fall of the last government. The main notable difference is the lack of Career training, but otherwise much has stayed the same. Most people's jobs still revolve around manufacturing (particularly of luxury items), and most of One's citizens enjoy a comfortable standard of living. Moderator: Wolf Tears |

District Two The smiths and glassworkers of Panem are found here. This district is in charge of a lot of different things, from forging blades to blowing glass for drinking vessels, but it all leads back to those two things. This variety has always kept them necessary and overlapped into the luxury items industry, both of which endeared them to to Capitol and kept District Two wealthy over the decades. District Three Electronics are the big thing here. District Three is in charge of the production of just about every electronic device imaginable, from computers to refrigerators to helicopters. This is undoubtedly the most technologically advanced district. Moderator: Wolf Tears |

District Four It's hard to find a place in District Four that isn't near water. Its denizens have always taken advantage of that, and traditionally most have been master fishers, catching enough to keep them rich even in the days of extreme Capitol tariffs. Though fishing is still popular, building boats has also become rather important, and this district has started working hand-in-hand with District Five to create efficient trade routes. District Five For a long time, this district held the scholars of Panem. While this is still true (District Five has most of the best schools, though District Three still holds claim to the sciences), it has expanded to include much more; most notably, this district has become the largest trade and foreign relations area outside of the Capitol. District Six Any civilization needs medical advances, and District Six is in charge of Panem's. Almost all the country's research on diseases and disorders, both mental and physical, goes on here, and they have produced some amazing results. And yes, that does in fact include research on biological warfare- not that anyone will admit it, of course... Moderator: Wolf Tears |

District Seven This District covers the most heavily-wooded areas of Panem, and as a result their economic focus has always been lumber. However, a forest can only take so much chopping, so for the past few decades they've been moving into construction and allowing the country's forests to recuperate. It turns out this was a good move- Panem needs a lot of rebuilding, and no one knows how to construct or fix a building better than these people. Moderator: Wolf Tears |

District Eight Almost all of Panem's fabrics and clothing come from District Eight, which is famous for its cotton fields, sheep, and cattle. Now that they no longer have to tithe to the Capitol, this District- like many others- has been able to see a nice profit from selling what they make. Moderator: Wolf Tears |

District Nine District Nine has never been the poorest of districts, but it's always been one of the most financially unstable. They never had a specific industry, so they were forced to anticipate the economic atmosphere and the whims of the Capitol- which wasn't always possible, since the wants of the Capitol's residents are rarely predictable. Lately, they seem to be somewhat focused on art, but until someone really does something this remains the most economically splintered district. Moderator: Wolf Tears |

District Ten The first half of the agriculture districts, District Ten is known for raising livestock, which grazes in fenced-in areas of the vast plains found in this district's territory, and for hunting in the surrounding forests. Most of Panem's animal-based products come from here, with the exceptions of Eight's wool and leather. Though never rich, they've never been too poor, either, and little has changed for them in recent years. Moderator: Wolf Tears |

District Eleven - 1 Viewing As it's situated on some of Panem's most fertile land, District Eleven's major industry, agriculture, has not changed since its founding. What has changed it the district's economic level; in recent years new technologies and the ability to keep and sell crops (rather than tithing most of the crop yield to the Capitol) has created the biggest economic turnaround in all of Panem. However, due to its very nature, most of District Eleven has remained rural despite their recent wealth. Moderator: Wolf Tears |

District Twelve Though the past few years have done phenomenal things for the mountainous region once known as Appalachia, a century of poverty cannot be erased in five short years. As a result, much of District Twelve is still very poor. Financial aid and reconstruction have helped (as has the expansion of their major industry to include not just coal but oil, gems, and other natural resources), but it can't reach everyone, and many still go to bed hungry. District Thirteen Though mostly ruins, District Thirteen is also home to a few cities, most of which were once the primary headquarters for several rebel groups. The remaining ruins have taken a backseat to the towns, but some people are starting to settle and rebuild them. It's thought that the new rebel group might be hiding somewhere out here, but if they are, no one has found them yet. Moderator: Wolf Tears |

Like a true nature's child [WT] by galexkatniss Sept 17, 2010 16:48:40 GMT -6 |

Outside the Districts Most of Panem is mapped out as belonging to one district or another, but there are certain areas that were once used as land barriers to keep the districts separate. These areas are unclaimed- there's no sense settling more land before the already-existing cities are fixed up- but people can wander through them freely on their way between districts and some even live out here.
